Join us for an engaging and thought-provoking evening as we delve into the captivating world of Toxic: Women, Fame and The Noughties, the ground breaking book that uncovers the fascinating intersection of celebrity, feminism, and culture in the tumultuous noughties.
Britney, Paris, Lindsay, Aaliyah, Janet, Amy, Kim, Chyna, Jen. Nine iconic women whose fame in the early internet years of the century came at a price. In Toxic, journalist Sarah Ditum describes how each of the women changed ‘celebrity’ forever, despite often falling victim to it, during what we now view as one of the most hostile eras in which to be female.
The book takes you on a journey through the defining decade of the 2000s, exploring the complex and often controversial relationship between celebrities, feminism, and the evolving cultural landscape.
This is an exclusive launch event for the book with the author in attendance, dissecting its key themes, revelations, and the impact of celebrity and feminism on the 2000s and the modern day.
This event is open to all who are passionate about understanding the intersection of celebrity culture, feminism, and the cultural evolution of the noughties. Whether you're a bookworm, a pop culture aficionado, or a feminist at heart, this discussion promises to be enlightening, engaging, and thought-provoking.
